With great excitement and positive feedback from the recent launch of Cycling4SEEd many of you may well have heard that Marika and Michael from SEEd will be cycling the entire country! They are pedaling over 1000 miles from Land’s End to John O’Groats (February 29th to July 22nd 2012) to visit 80 primary and secondary schools capturing their sustainability stories along the way.
In these schools they are running FREE student filmmaking sessions, school assemblies, Head Teacher and Staff support sessions on education for sustainable development, linking schools and projects together as they travel up the country. Each week they shall cycle to a new community and stay for a week to capture what has been happening in schools and in their surrounding community. If you would like them to come to your school or project then please look at the Route and Schedule below to see when they will be near you. If you are not on the planned route but are eager to get involved please contact them and they will do their best to get to you!
Please get in touch soon as places are filling up and we want you to be involved to share your sustainability story with everyone! If you know of any community or sustainability events/projects or museums and galleries that we could visit please also get in touch. Additionally, if you have any places to stay for two cyclists please drop us a line!
SEEd is uniquely positioned to show the amazing breadth of sustainability in education across the UK and we need your help and support to capture this and celebrate all the great work!
This project has been completely voluntary starting in August 2011. Cycling4SEEd aim to not use new materials in this project with even our bikes being ‘upcycled’ from old parts. If you can donate any cycling equipment or money towards our project to make it shinier and more visible then please email us directly and we will say a big ’Thank You’ on our website.
The information gathered from the schools, teachers and young people Cycling4SEEd meet will feed directly into the collaborative national Sustainable Curriculum Projectsteered by SEEd’s CEO, Ann Finlayson, designed to be running in schools by 2013.
